August is National Golf Month! It’s the perfect time to get out to the golf course and introduce a new friend or two to the wonderful game.

History

National Golf Month was founded in 1993 by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA). It was created to promote golf as an inclusive sport that is accessible to all genders and ages no matter their skill level. It stemmed from the charity event the PGA does each year, National Golf Day. National Golf Day fell on May 6 this year but events were impacted due to COVID-19.

How to Celebrate

We may be past August 1st, but National Golf Month is designed for us to celebrate all month long. You can celebrate National Golf Month by heading to the driving range, practice greens, and golf course. Courses and driving greens often offer discounts during the month of August, so you can take advantage of specials as you celebrate. We don’t think there’s any better excuse to loosen your tie and leave the office a little early!

Bring a Friend

Sure, National Golf Month is all about getting in as many rounds as you personally can, but it’s also about bringing new people to the course. Do you have a friend or family member that has always wanted to try golf but hasn’t because they don’t know anything about it? Teach them! Before you head to the golf course, teach them the basic. Whether it’s to pick the right club and how to hold it or the rules of the game, every little bit of information helps. Be patient with them when you take them to the course. Teaching them about the game also offers you the opportunity to improve on your game.

How do you plan to celebrate National Golf Month? We suggest booking a tee time with us! And stay tuned for a fall golf special beginning September 1!
